From the heritage of our brands to the values our employees demonstrate every day, social purpose has been at the heart of the how Nichols works across the world for more than a century. In fact, we have made it our business to help people young and old, from Manchester to the Middle East, to enjoy the healthy habit of regular hydration.

We are incredibly proud of the brands we have built and the thousands of consumers we serve every day. Our aim is to keep doing the right things, in the right way – for our customers, our shareholders, our people, our partners and ultimately the planet. This sense of responsibility to those around us is behind our purpose to make life taste better for everyone.

However, with the world facing up to unprecedented challenges, we know continuing to do the right things, in the right way requires a robust plan with all our stakeholders and the engagement and commitment of all of our people, to help deliver our vision for a Happier Future.

Over a hundred years of experience has taught us that it is through continuous evolution that we ensure the sustainability of our Company and with this in mind, we have organised our strategy for a Happier Future into three pillars. These are interconnected but provide us with tangible goals around which we can align our resources, employees and stakeholders.

Our 2030 commitments

Summary progress report 2024

We will make a tangible difference to the employability and wellbeing of 200 young people in the communities in which we operate.

We will fully embed our ‘Responsible Sourcing Programme’ across the Group’s value chain. We will increase the recycled content of our UK plastic bottles to 100%.

We will reduce our impact on climate change by reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 Greenhouse Gas emissions by 80% and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 20% by 2030.

Highlights

UK packaged portfolio achieves 51% rPET

This year we achieved 51% rPET content of all PET bottles in our UK packaged portfolio

Continued Reduced Sugar Focus

Launched eight new products in the UK with no or low added sugar or fortified with vitamins across our Vimto, SLUSH PUPPiE and Levi Roots brand portfolio and launched two new zero-sugar products in the Middle East: Vimto Zero Sugar cordial and Vimto Zero Sugar carbonated soft drink

Exceeded Scope 1 and 2 2025 target

Reducing our direct carbon emissions by 28% YoY

Warrington Youth Zone

Raised £20,000 for the Warrington Youth Zone

Achieved 84% of our Vimto UK brand licensing portfolio being palm oil free

The remaining palm oil used in our products certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)
